Newell Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

TULSA, Okla. – Rising senior Scott Newell has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, it was announced by the GCAA on Wednesday.

Newell led ORU with a 73.8 stroke average this season and posted a pair of third place finishes in his junior season. He took third overall at 208 (-5) at the Harold Funston Invitational and tied for third overall at 219 (+3) at the ULM Wallace Jones Invitational. He was the top ORU finisher five times in 10 tournaments,

To be eligible for the honor, golfers must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, hold a stroke average under 76.0 having played in at least 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, and have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
