EDMOND, Okla. – Bill Glasson and Bryan Norton, both members of the ORU Athletics Hall of Fame, have qualified for the US Senior Open, which will start Thursday at Oak Tree National.

Playing as an amateur, Norton earned his spot at the sectional qualifier at Indian Hills Country Club, while Glasson moved through the sectional qualifier at Spring Meadows Country Club.

A two-time All-American at ORU, Norton was the MVP of the USA vs. Japan matches in 1980, and paired with Glasson helped ORU to a third place finish in the nation in 1980 and a runner-up finish in 1981. He was inducted into the ORU Hall of Fame in 2006.

Inducted into the ORU Hall of Fame in 2002, Glasson was also a two-time All-American at ORU. He has seven PGA Tour victories and in 1997, he was named the PGA Comeback Player of the Year. He is currently 26th on the 2014 Champions Tour money list.

Norton will tee begin his championship at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, teeing off on the first hole. He is paired with Rocky Walcher (Oklahoma City) and Ron Vlosich (Lakewood, Colo.). Glasson is paired with Tom Byrom (San Antonio) and Kiyoshi Murota (Japan), and will start from the 10th tee at 8:18 a.m. on Thursday.

News OK listed both ORU grads on their list of 44 players to watch.
