#TopORUMoments from 2013-14; #3 – W. Soccer Sets School Record for Wins
TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team had a tremendous 2013 campaign, finishing with a 15-4-1 record in Coach Roger Bush’s first season at the helm. With a victory in the regular season finale against McNeese State, the Golden Eagles set a new program record for wins in a season.
Already having a positive season, ORU sat at 10-4 on October 13, but rattled off five straight wins to end the regular season, including a double-overtime, come from behind thriller at Sam Houston State.
ORU finished a point away from a regular season championship and finished at 51 in the RPI, the highest in program history.
The ORU back line, despite having two different goal keepers start at least five games, allowed just 17 goals in the season, breaking the previous school record of 21 set in 2003.
Kaily Cox earned Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year honors and Jennifer Abernathy was the Student-Athlete of the Year. Both were first team all-conference selections and also named to the all-central region teams. Megan Giles, Jordan Parsons, Kayla Keller and Maddie Rhodes were each named second team all-conference and Leah Bickers earned honorable mention all-conference honors.
This is the eighth of 10 editions of the #TopORUMoments from 2013-14 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
